The architectural elements (conceived by Ronny Heiremans) on the roof of the building and the over-the-years-accumulated vegetation, evokes, through the eye of a camera, a gardenlike landscape in which the office buildings of Brussels seem to be organically integrated. Groups of people assume a pose for a short period of time, with the townscape as a background. The change in the shadows, cloud movements and range of coloring in the background brings a dimension of time in these video paintings. The participants in these Tableaux vivants are no actors who do things or express emotions, but abstract figures. The postures of the people were chosen from a wide array of postures seen in for example rock art, primitive sculpture, Renaissance painting as well as from newspapers and magazines.
